Sardinia

A journey of spectacular coastal roads, hidden valleys and quiet mountain passes, following roads that reveal a different side of Sardinia at every turn.

Journey Details

There is another Sardinia beyond the beaches — a wilder, quieter island of ancient villages, empty mountain roads and granite landscapes stretching towards the Mediterranean.

Over six stages, we will traverse the island from Alghero to Bosa, climb into the rugged heart of Sardinia towards Aritzo, and emerge on the eastern coast at Cala Gonone, where we pause for a well-earned rest day. From there, the journey continues along cork oaks before turning north towards the granite landscapes of San Pantaleo, eventually completing the circle back in Alghero.

Along the way, the Mediterranean is never far away, but the real character of Sardinia lies inland — on quiet roads threading through sleepy mountain villages, across the island’s rugged spine and into landscapes that feel wonderfully untouched.

A journey of contrasts: sea and mountains, ancient villages and wild roads, long climbs and sweeping descents, with enough space in between to simply soak it all in.

SARDINIA

Land of Nuraghi

The real character of Sardinia reveals itself when the sea disappears from view.

Inland, the roads become quieter, winding through sleepy mountain villages where time seems to move at a different pace. We cross the rugged spine of the island on roads that climb through oak and chestnut forests, open onto vast highland plateaus and disappear into valleys where the landscape feels almost untouched.

Here, there are few signs of the outside world — only grazing flocks, cork oaks, vines, granite mountains and the occasional village appearing around the next bend.

This is Sardinia at its most elemental: raw, generous and deeply connected to the land.

SARDINIA

Local Flavours

During the journey, our roadside feed stops will be a taste of Sardinia itself — fresh ricotta drizzled with local arancio honey, seasonal fruit, warm pane carasau, and traditional pastries such as seadas and pardulas.

Along the way, we’ll stop for the simple things Sardinia does so well: local cheeses, freshly baked bread, sweet pastries and coffee in village cafés. Food here is generous, uncomplicated and deeply connected to the land — another way of discovering the island, one stop at a time.

There is so much flavour to this island — in every sense of the word. From its rugged mountains and colourful architecture to the food, wine and generous spirit of its people.
